Ve věku 97 let zemřel ve středu americký filmový a televizní herec Karl Malden. Vlastním jménem se jmenoval Mladen George Sekulovich. Narodil se v Chicagu 22. března 1912, jeho matka byla Češka, otec Srb.

Malden se proslavil v roce 1951 ve filmu Tramvaj do stanice touha režiséra Elii Kazana. Za tuto roli získal Oscara za nejlepší mužský herecký výkon ve vedlejší roli.

V roce 1972 zahrál poručíka Mika Stonea v televizním filmu V ulicích San Francisca. Z filmu se posléze stal úspěšný seriál.

Malden byl ženatý, svou ženu Monu si vzal v roce 1938 – jedná se o jedno z nejdelších manželství v historii Hollywoodu. Mají spolu dvě dcery Carlu a Milu.
